Meet Your Teacher

 

Arup started his music education at the age of 6 at the Conservatory of Music, Park Forest, near Chicago in the United States. 

​

After relocating back to India, he continued as a piano student at the Calcutta School of Music, Kolkata, INDIA as a distinguished student winning several school music competitions and progressively passing the Grade examinations of ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London).

​

He has been teaching students since 1990, and is currently a teacher at the Calcutta School of Music teaching students from the age of 6 to 60 at various levels. Students have achieved distinction level at the ABRSM Grade 8 level under his guidance.

 

He was also Joint Head of Western Music at the Calcutta School of Music from 2011 to 2014 - responsible for maintaining standards for western music disciplines at the school. This included auditioning examination candidates prior to their examinations, organizing music concerts for students and organizing concerts in which foreign guest artistes came to India to perform.

 

Arup also served as Orchestra Manager for the Calcutta Chamber Orchestra – responsible for improving quality of the orchestra by guiding the orchestra members musically along with the collaboration of their conductor. During this period, he performed the Mendelssohn Piano & Violin Double Concerto in D minor as part of the centenary celebrations of the Calcutta School of Music.
